About Rachel
Writer. Teacher. Veteran. Dog Mom.
Writer
I have always believed that the best way to get my thoughts to slow down was to put them on paper. Taking a risk, in 2014 I reached out to a military-focused publication and began to freelance for them. It was through that I made the connections that eventually encouraged me to take a children's book idea that had been ruminating in my head and put it on paper. My 1st book, Emma's Anchor, will be released in 2021.

Teacher
My passion for writing is topped only by my love of education. Collecting degrees myself, it is no surprise that I found myself on the other side of the desk. Teaching middle school English allows me to surround myself with books for a living! I get to share my love of reading and writing with students that may have never have someone so enthusiastic about learning standing in front of them. And if lets me be a professional nerd, which is perfect if you ask me.

Veteran
I am a third generation Sailor and veteran. I honorably served for four years in this country's amazing Navy. Following in the footsteps of my father I was able to see the world that he told me about through my own eyes. I am proud of my service and what it meant to stand with the 1% of Americans that are willing to defend the freedoms we have here.

Dog Mom
All of the jobs I have had are really there just to make sure my dog has a better life. After my time in the Navy I had some lingering problems that my dog, Truck, has helped me tackled in ways that no human possibly could. While he has yet to make an appearance in my books, believe me when I say there is a series of the adventures he's gone on brewing in my head at this time.
